I decided to go to Michaels yesterday to buy some polymer clay so I can start making charms! I had this whole idea as to what I wanted to make- so I bought some colors and some gloss glaze and went to work! I made this cute little dog thing with a leaf on top, and then I put it in the oven. I bought sculpey premo clay cause I heard that was like the best to use soooo
5 minutes in however, I start to smell burning, only to find my cute little dog charm's feetsies done burned! And one of the ears too! I originally put it on a pan with foil on the pan because I didn't want it to burn and now it burned! So I decided to change tactics. I lowered my oven temperature to 250 degrees and only put it on foil. I made a little flan this time. That lasted longer, but it discolored and also the little leaf burned right at the tip. SOOO I had to change tactics again. I heard that tenting your creation can help avoid discoloration by making the clay avoid the bright heat. Therefore, I put it on foil and then folded the foil so it can act as a shade on top. Now that seemed to make my clay last a lot longer, but after 16 minutes in it discolored again! I don't want to waste more clay by doing trial and errors so I think I'm going to invest in a toaster oven since I heard that can help and see if that helps me. (#`-_ゝ-)
